Welcome to Biofood & Living Engineering Laboratory (BFE).

Our laboratory is focusing on the microbial-based production platform for the food ingredients and functional molecules.

In particular, we are currently interested in followings.

  1. Biochemical synthesis pathway for rare sugars based on multi-enzymatic reaction

  2. Bioactive carbohydrate/peptide derived from food or biomass hydrolysate

  3. Industrial bioprocess technology with self-cloned microbial cells

  4. Safety evaluation of genetically modified microorganism

Latest Research

Development of Biosafe Geobacillus Platform Cells and Enzyme Production Technology for Industrial Uses

By building a self-cloning ToolBox based on heat resistant enzymes, we are advancing the technology for the contained use of GMM, and standardizing the technology for industrial enzyme production and safety evaluation.

 

 

  • securing domestic environment -derived heat resistant strains and genomic resources

  • construction of heat- resistant strain platform and enzyme based self-cloning ToolBox

  • development of enzyme and functional protein/peptide material production technology 

  • ensuring safety in contained (closed) production system standards
